What bestsellers keep doing.
About This Data
The Bestseller Patterns tool is built on a curated dataset of bestselling books pulled from the New York Times Bestseller Lists, enriched with metadata from Google Books and proprietary AI analysis.
Every title earned a spot on the NYT list — this isn’t scraped or estimated data. It’s verified bestseller information from authoritative sources.
Each book goes through a multi-layer enrichment process that maps story-craft patterns — from narrative structure to character dynamics to market signals. This lets you ask natural-language questions and get data-backed answers about what’s actually working in bestselling fiction and nonfiction.
The dataset is updated periodically as new bestsellers are added.
Want to go deeper? Custom, in-depth bestseller reports are coming soon — built from this same dataset, focused on your genre, and written to answer the questions this free tool can’t. Ask away in the meantime; what people ask here shapes what those reports cover.
